Since the events of 2 weeks ago i've been reading on this site whether or not Sky Marshalls are effective.
I think that they are in the US and on US airlines flights that operate internationally
but what about Europe. The Guvnor seems to think that BA wouldn't like it...and perhaps other airlines and their pilots might think that too.....but here's a thought.....
Since the JAA is now the authority in Europe why not have THEM set up their own Sky Marshalls just like the FAA do in the US.
Then the burden to train, pay for flights, salaries etc....could be spread out by all the countries/airlines participating in the program.
This would keep the cost of individual airlines paying their own marshalls.
The JAA would be able to get approval from respective countries for the marshalls to carry weapons in those countries that don't allow them and could use the experience of all the best anti-terrorist tactics that are used by the various countries in the JAA, hence having a highly trained group which is sanctioned by all the European countries involved.!!!!
In a time where money is tight why not spread the cost out and not have the airlines with money having their own marshalls and those who don't have the money, not having any coverage at all.
