... so the latest hot rumour goes. That's no ETOPS, at all. 60 mins kids.

Certainly makes sense. :D

Ought to put a dent in their November start-up plans.

Anyone got any more info?

QF operated the 767 to Asia with only 60 minutes when the A/C first arrived. It can be done but will be a pain for the crews.

Syd-Hnl of course is a completely different matter. My bet would be that repainted 767's wet-leased to J* would fill the gap.

Yeah, that's certainly an option but I expect a LOT of resistance, from QF crews, to propping up a start-up airline that is inevitably taking their flying....

Should be interesting! :ouch:

Actually, 120 mins has been approved.:)

Indeed Pirate. They have 120 mins approval.

Still, HNL won't really be achievable without 180 mins. Keeping the A330s under the QF AOC until 180 is approved for J* would be the best option (disgruntled QF A330 crews aside).

180 mins is not far away .............. :ok:

JQ has been running under 120 minute ETOPS approval for just shy of a year now, Bug smasher squared. Difficult to fly to NZ without it!

As for HNL, Christmas Island (the OTHER Christmas Island) can still technically be used for 120 minute approval.

I'd be stunned if The Minister for Qantas and his underlings allow a negative outcome for GD's heart's desire.

Do you really think if Qantas said QF crews are to fly it the pilots will do anything apart from fly it and restrict the moans to the flight deck and this forum

Simple. If they made QF 330 drivers crew Jetstar---ALL GO SICK!!!!!

The Pirate

Errr ............ 1989!

errr! ........... 1989? If QF pilot's refuse to fly jetstar airplanes, how will that end up in the same situation as 1989? QF pilots don't fly jetstar airplanes now?

Tangental deviation there!

It would be funny to see what will happen if JQ don't get up any running as advertised!

What will they do?

Use the QF or the Aussie guys.....I bet they would be impressed! "Yes few at 1800' I think I'll carry fuel for the Azores.., just to be on the safe side".
You know how optimistic the Indonesian met lads are!

I agree with you mate. As my point was trying to illustrate, this thread has nothing to do with "that year".
It was a totaly irrelevant comment. Not to mention the original question I asked. Specificaly pertaining to jetstar.

I have a feeling the pirates point is that somewhere in the deep dark bowels of the EBA, it probably mentions something about flying QF group A/C when and where you are told ( except war zones ).......................and to refuse that may just be in contravention of your EBA ( yes slightly different to '89 but same )
Dunno, just hazarding a guess

Sorry Guys; my very obscure point was that "lets all go sick" would work just as well as "Lets all resign" did in 1989.

The relevence is that the routes WILL be flown by someone!

I didnt mean to open up the thread to any throwbacks to that era; but its best to remember the lessons learnt in the past for formulating plans for the future.

Now let's just forget I mentioned the bad word:{
