New Rules re Liquids in Hand Luggage

In Saturday's Daily Teleg Travel there was a short item re revised rules on liquids in hand luggage, effective 6th November, but I managed to throw it out! Something about up to 100ml in sealed containers and then in a re-sealable clear plastic bag. I am on the BAA's e Mail update list but nothing, yet. Also FR's website hasn't changed since September. Any update from anyone here please?

I believe the most significant part of this change in the rules is that it will now apply across the whole of the EU

Also, forget your holiday drink bought locally unless you want to pop it in a case - the airport shops have a monopoly now.

Dear Traveller,
The Government has just announced that there will be further
changes to hand baggage restrictions and these will take effect
on 6 November 2006.
From 6 November you will be allowed to carry a limited amount of
liquid through security control. The liquids will need to be in
individual containers with a capacity of no more than 100ml, or
100g in weight. The containers will then need to fit comfortably
in a transparent, resealable bag measuring no more than 20cm (8")
by 20cm (8").

This is a joke, isn't it? I mean, are these people serious?

This truly is the stupidest pile of terrorist pleasing, BAA money making, bullsh*t in history.

I can see them now at security, weighing little bottles "no, that's 101g, you can't take it on board, but you can buy some from our shops, which will never get x-rayed or checked" or " no, I'm sorry sir, your plastic bag is 8.5 inches by 8.5 inches, and can't be allowed, but you can buy another more suitable one from our shop, where you can buy lots of dangerous goods that will never, ever get security screened".

All the while, joe terrorist waltzes through, with fake ID and passport, and no liquids and gels. The people responsible for this bullsh*t are ****** idiots (excuse my language, but I'm bl**dy angry as hell about this)!!!!

Recently on a BA flight from LHR to Berlin, the BA captain apologised for the delay to departure, due to the fuel lorry not being allowed through security.

What a friggin joke.

Not sure about 6th November - this is in effect from THIS MORNING (3rd) in Athens so beware if you're travelling over the weekend. Friend of mine was refused all the usual cosmetics in her hand luggage. There was a lengthy 'moan' on Greek TV this morning but I didn't understand it as it was in Greek. A couple of film crews shooting footage around the airport too so obviously something was going on.

No comment on sensibility/usefulness of this - others have said it all.

What is new?

While packing:

You are only allowed to take small quantities of liquids in your hand
luggage. These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum
capacity of 100 millilitres each. You must pack these containers in
one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag measuring approximately 20 x
20 cms.
