Have just heard about a round the world tour going on sale next week for MyTravel. Does anyone have any details? I am not sure whether this has been done before by them but sounds very interesting...

I didn’t know MyTravel UK are doing a tour. Is it on sale yet? It looks like a superb itinerary. Any idea of aircraft type?

how much is it?Don't know, but it's around 25000 miles and covers four continents. So, just off the top of my head, you can get those sort of RTW tickets on Star/One World for somewhere in the range of £1000-£1500 + taxes. VS/SQ will beat that but don't have the route network to match the MyTravel trip. Maybe MyTravel price includes the accomodation and arranged tours too. If you have some spare cash and time it's probably a great idea, though I am sure you could get cheaper if you arranged it yourself, but I guess that's not the point.

MyTravel are actually an OK airline. It seems to me the charter outfits are raising their game at the same time as the scheduled ones are deteriorating. At the rate they are going it won't be long before the charter lot will be settting the standards.

I’ve just read that MyTravel will be tailoring menus for the 4620 in-flight meals served to dishes reflecting the countries visited.

If that's the case TC 757_300 then I guess the MAN-EWR leg will be pie & peas then! ;)
Looks like a fantastic trip, especially for the crew. Wish I had the money. :(
BTW, didn't First Choice do something similar a few years ago?

Don't know what the seat pitch is, but I think you could get better value on a *Alliance or One World rtw, and have more choice on destinations, especially if booked ex-EU origin. And get miles and tier points. Just a thought.

Last Saturday *should have been* the start of John Otway's round-the-world concert tour (remember him?). An A340, christened as 'Ot-Air' and containing the man and his fans, was due to leave Liverpool after a gig at the Cavern, to a series of stopovers with concert dates in New York, Las Vegas, Sydney (the Opera House), Shanghai and Dubai, plus an R&R break in Tahiti. Price tag was just under £4000.

Unfortunately it never happened but it must have been good fun while it lasted.

It was off to a bad start when they said they'd use an A340 from Liverpool as it can't accept 4 engined widebodies.

It's looks like it's going to be on the A330-200.

Is that the one with the downstairs toilets ?:8

I believe, although prepared to be corrected, that the MYT A330-200s are the only A330s to be fitted with the LDL

Yes, it has got the downstairs toilets, and as the price above includes all accommodation and some excursions, I think you would find it difficult to find better value!
