Jetstar Pilots To Train At MAS Subang Centre
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has signed an agreement with Jetstar, the Australian-based low-fare carrier, to train 12 Jetstar pilots at its Flight Crew Training Centre in Subang.
Jetstar's chief executive officer, Alan Joyce, said the airline was pleased to use the centre to help support its move into long-haul flying.
"All initial line operations experience for Jetstar's lead pilots on the A330 will be conducted by MAS and this arrangement has real potential to form an ongoing and long-lasting relationships for line operations and simulator training for our A330 operations," he said.
"We are pleased to share our A330-300 expertise with Jetstar in line with the 'winning coalitions' thrust of our Business Turnaround Plan and are glad that the deal matches the expectations of Jetstar's urgent training needs," he said.
The Jetstar pilots, all holding the rank of Airbus A330-200 flight captain, are currently undergoing both line and simulator Airbus A330-300 training at the centre and are expected to complete their training by early December 2006.
