I am British but live in France. I have completed ATPL theory, have finished IR and am about to take the CPL practical exam. I would be eligible to apply for a DGAC (French) fATPL, but equally under JAR I can apply for a CAA equivalent. Does anybody have a view on which is better for employment prospects?

The CAA is considerable more efficient and less bureaucratic (!) than the DGAC, so in practical terms it would be simpler to go down the CAA option. Anybody think differently?

Most UK-based airlines prefer a UK-issued ATPL, simply because there have been several instances of foreign-issued licences being forged. If you intend to work for a British airline, you will be better off having done your training under the CAA's purview. If you are aiming at a French airline, the DGAC's system is probably more likely to help you succeed.
