Ok, here goes.

Binos, I gave you the points that no one else got on the questions you answered out of sequence, since I knew what you meant. Everyone can make a honest mistake but I couldn't penalize the other players that had both the answer and the section correct.

Copterfan, you're fairly new here, so I'll allow one of your answers to stand. Since you must be one hell of an Orbison fan, I'll allow that one to stand. I couldn't even find the answer to that question on Google. I shall expect grovelling and snivelling on command in the future.:p

After all that, I hope the scores are correct. I is confused.

thanks for the 'bonus', I knew what it was about but not exactly what the tile was - there was also a skiffle song about the Grand Coulee wan't there?

Another observation, if there's a particularly odd answer that I know I find the tune running round by head for the following day (so Monday's work was accompanied by odd snatches like 'Got a big old Cadillac with wire wheels', most disturbing, does anyone else suffer from this?

3rd Oct 2006, 12:47
Hey Pigboat!

Thank you, I won't make that mistake again....:ugh:

Snivelling and grovelling when required.:D

I saw that complete Orbison question on a program about Phil Spector and the 'wall of sound', and also a prog about the script of the film 'pretty woman', just stuck in my head.

TOTW3 - Not been much of a fan of the Manic Street Preachers (only heard one song by them, and that was while I was in Finland), but the child of which you speak is Elian Gonzalez. Big news at the time 'cause of all the hullabaloo it caused.

USS Reuben James, DD-245, to be more precise. Now, what was significant about it?

4th Oct 2006, 01:53
The Reuben James was featured in The Hunt for Red October, it rescued the crew when they were evac'ed and thats where the admiral destroyed the torpedo :uhoh:

In case someone wants to point out that the USS Panay - and not the USS Reuben James - was actually the first American warship lost in WW2, the Japanese said the Panay had been bombed in error and apologized for the action. The James was torpoed on October 31st 1941 while she was on convoy escort in the North Atlantic, by the German sub U552, a week before Pearl Harbour, thus before the US was officially at war with anyone. 100 of her officers and crew were lost. No apology was forthcoming.

OK, Honey was spectacularly vomitous I'll grant you, but I happen to love Summer the First Time. There are a couple of cringeworthy rhymes (julep and two lips :uhoh: ) but on the whole it's a delightfully evocative description, a musical equivalent of Summer of '42.
