Can anyone give instructions on how to use Torrent programmes- do they work Standalone, or in conjunction with the likes of a p2p programme, such as Limewire, eMule, etc? Any info and advice most appreciated,

Thanks,

Tosh

Standalone as far as I know. You download a .torrent file, that gives the information to the program (i.e. bitornado or bittorent etc) where to find the files that you are looking for and away it goes.

For all your downloading needs, be it Torrents, Limewire or newsgroups, this site has all the information you could want together with the latest news from the programmers and those who would have them shut down.
There is a menu on the left of the page where you will be taken to detailed online instructions for whatever takes your fancy.

No spyware, no secret downloaders, just a mine of information.

Been using them for a few weeks now.
Downloading loads of stuff.
A bit slow but you get it eventually.
Using uTorrent, then go to Torrentspy, Torrentz, etc to download.

Suprised they haven't been stopped long ago.

First of all you need a torrent program - I use BitComet (http://www.bitcomet.com/) - then you need to go to a torrent site where there is a list of available torrents or a torrent search engine.
A good general site is TorrentSpy (http://www.torrentspy.com/directory)
For a good torrent search engine try isohunt (http://isohunt.com/)
When you have found the file you want to download just hit download/open and BitComet will do the rest.
When setting up BitComet you need to open ports on your firewall/router to allow it to access the torrent system, there are numerous instructions on the help forum about how to do this. Go to Portforward (http://www.portforward.com/) for instructions on specific routers.
Any more help you require just ask or PM me.
