On Sunday Sept. 24th a Mexicana A320 that was on approach to MMZC in low ceiling conditions flew between the top and middle wires of a High Power transmision line, the aircraft was fortunate enough to break the wires but damage from the wires was seen in the engines, upper and lower fuselage, vertical stabilizer, flaps, wings, and one of the lower winglets was torn off, the right engine ingested debris and was also damaged.

After the wire strike the airplane made a violent go around and flew 146 NM to the nearest airport where the the weather was VMC and landed without further incident.

One more item to the long list of stupidities commited by the so called "astronauts" (at least that is what they think about themselves) of Mexicana.
I wish they could leave their arrogance aside once and for all and start flying like professional pilots.
