Today the Embraer 190 was seen in Dar on a refueling stop. It's the Company demostrator painted in company colours. The registration is PP-XMB was enroute to Addis Ababa. Neat looking little machine, nice lines and all, anyone know how they compare to say A-319's, A-318's and 737-700's? and Bombardiers CRJ's

I wouldn't want to comment on type comparisons, slightly out of my league. However I will venture that Embraer is going to be a force to keep an eye on in the next few years with regard to providing Airbus and Boeing with a worthy competitor in the larger narrow body market. Just my opinion.

... enroute to Addis Ababa you said. Is it going for a demo with Ethiopian?

Air Tanzania have order 3 ERJ 190, delivery very soon! please don't compare a Embraer and a Boeing or a A319, this is a 90 pax's airplane ! a B737-900ER is 215!

cheers

So how does it compare to the CRJ's? And how many seats in a A-318? It's about the same size isn't it.

It was in Nairobi too for a demo with KQ. They took it out to some of the shorter strips that the Saab 340 currently operates into. KQ is looking for a replacement for the Saab which is going to be phased out by the second quarter of next year

The Saab 340 is a 30 seater isn't it? Seems like a big jump from a 340 to a jet. Also where does the 340 go? I've only ever seen it in Zanzi so don't know what it does back home.

Embraer Jets are a fine piece of machine, i predict them taking over boeing in the near future( as far as short Haul is concerned). Trust me, You'll know when you fly it

I love it
