CASS Status Update:

Currently some (airline) stations do not have the needed hardware or
network access to display CASS pictures on the gate computers as mandated by
the TSA by September 23rd. (airline) started the GITP project at the
beginning of 2006 with the station merger integration process for the new
Shares program in conjunction with addressing the CASS digital photo
problem. (Airline) is roughly 50% complete with its effort of installing
the nearly 14,000 new personal computers and needed network infrastructure.
The remaining stations will be completed at various times between September
23rd and the end of 2006. The production date or implementation date for
the software to display the digital photo for CASS requests at gates that
are configured is Friday the 22nd.

The global extension of the September 23rd deadline for the display of
digital photos for CASS requests sought by the ATA was denied by the TSA.
(ailrine) has received an extension until October 31, 2006 to use the
current CASS verification procedures utilizing the passport photo for those
stations / gates that are unable to comply with the digital photo display
requirement so that we remain compliant in the CASS program. Other carriers
have received the same extension. At this time the Jumpseat Committee
advises that all (airline) pilots intending to utilize the CASS program for
jumpseat travel in the flight deck on other carriers carry their passport.

A bulletin for the gate agents describing the interim procedures for
accepting OAL jumpseat travelers using CASS requests with the ability to
view an available digital photo have been sent out. The gate agent will
verify the jumpseat traveler's photo and write CASS approved on the Jumpseat
Authorization Form (0000) and there will be NO printout attached to the
form. If a flight captain has an OAL flight deck jumpseat rider and is
uncertain, a simple check with the gate agent should dispel any concerns.
Please remember that OAL pilots are only authorized to ride in the flight
deck jumpseat if there are no available seats in the cabin.

(airline) began transmitting the digital photo for CASS requests earlier
today. Many Carriers have instituted a procedure that denies a pilot whose
CASS request does not return a digital photo after the deadline date of
September 23, 2006. In some instances this procedure has been activated
early causing problems. If there is a problem with the transmission of the
digital photo with a (airline) pilot's CASS request, the Jumpseat Committee
request that the pilot not become confrontational with the gate agent, and
to please forward the details to the Jumpseat Committee via the jumpseat
comment form available on the (airline) website so we may follow up and
correct any technical problems.

Looks like positive ID is taking a step in the right direction.....but of course!!! the argument wil be raised that its easy for anyone to look like anyone......Gaaaaaaaaawd.........anyway gents, barring all the security talk as of late, hopefully this will make it a little easier for us to get to work...if they can do it at the gate, they can do it at the Security line....

WTF?

This post has been moved from:

D & G Reporting Points Airline and RPT issues in Australia and enZed

... to ...

D & G General Aviation & Questions The place for students, instructors and charter guys.

:suspect: I would have thought terminal security was a RPT issue, not so much one for students, instructors and charter guys. But then what would I know? According to Danny I am an instructor, not a professional pilot

Possibly because with the impending pilot shortage, today's students, instructors and charter guys will be flying RPT in the airlines by the end of 2006? :} :}

Oh, there's the door...'night. :E

sorry men actually posted it in the wrong place...buggered off and forgot to do the proper things.....knickers back on please..

But now you mention it ...it pertains to the the fact that now ,before we can get past our own airline security,as before it was only a typed ID verification on paper checked by the gate agents...we now must have to be cleared via photo ID at the counter.....plus ID ....makes it harder for would-be bad jokers .....PB

hey boss...explain anyway why it was moved....????? this whole post stinks of aviation in general...sort of thought thats why we have drama..."your" explanation needs to be moved I reckon.....lovingly...PB
