I realise that DXB is not the centre of the universe, but I would have thought that this would be somewhere on the news wires.
Nothing on CNN or BBC, nor SkyNews Dubai Radio not reporting it.

I know they censor stuff here but this would be difficult to hide.

Pls advz

PPrune first fro breaking news again - even if bad news?

Hmmmm....would be that be like the Airport construction collapse and Dry Dock Flooding cover ups! :hmm:

If in this case the 'public' are involved however, they will have a lot more difficulty keeping it from the world media, it seems the dozens of poor old Sub-continent workers killed in the previously mentioned accidents didn't deserve worldly attention. :suspect:

Next time, try: "I heard there might've been an incident at the Mall of the Emirates where a roof collapsed - does anybody have any info?"

Quote: "Arse". Didn't your mother ever teach you that swearing is the crutch of the conversational cripple? Classy, dude. I don't know how I could possibly come up with a retort to that one.

Got to say Chinny - even after reading the original post - that you should try a little harder to get your facts straight before posting an "apparently loads killed" type of thread:=

Bad form chinny. "loads killed" A bit premature. Not so cool to read that post when you know the wife and kids are there.

Chinny:

I am with journeyman on this one. Speculating on the body count was somewhat unwise.

well..... 'apologies' to all who mistook my information-it was not the intention.

i will endeavour to put more emphasis on certain words, so that people dont get misled by what i might say in future.as i said, all i did was say word for word what was said to me by some one who was there.

Spoken like a true journalist.

Journalist quote from eyewitness passenger

"There was a huge explosion and i looked out the window and the wing was on fire. I was sure we were all going to die"

Translation: the engine surged.

A little investigation wouldn't go astray before announcing mass loss of human life over the web.

I think we have consensus on this one - bad rumor - thread closed in an effort to avoid further bad blood.
