Qatar Airways at Barajas aborted takeoff when undercarriage caught fire. Newspaper reports "hysteria" when chutes deployed. Last Friday.
Is this unusual ? The fire I mean. I can understand it on landing--just.

Hello,

Undercarriage fire? I thought I had the same once, but it turned out to be from that dodgy Mexican restaurant :ok:

More likely a rejected take-off for some other reason which caused an undercarrige fire. At high weights and high speeds the brakes will almost certainly catch fire due to massive energy they have to absorb.

'Tis better to abort and have an undercarriage fire on the ground than to have this (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19910711-0) happen.
