Has anyone had any experience with with the operators who run a C206 and C310 working out of Maningrida?

Thanks for any info.

Yeah mate, you will have a great time out there if your looking for some challenging flying. The company treats you very well and the house you get to live in is 10 times better than any other pilot in Arnhemland gets to live in. When you do go crazy (even if its for short periods) you can always get on the metro back to the deck bar for a beer and some counselling. Go for it.

From my (limited) experience with the place it's definatly one of the better ones. Interesting though to see the airport has had enough of a security upgrade to lob a 737 in though.

Not an 'aviation' company in the traditional sense... Just one branch of a larger organisation including the store, builders etc.
Job brief is to support folks on the outstations maintain a traditional lifestyle. lots of flying drs on clinic runs, tucker runs in the wet season, and general aerial taxi -profits come distant second to safety - 206 was maintained to IFR.
Locals are friendly if you're friendly to them - same as anywhere.
Good mix of outstations and other airports.
Conditions and salary - yes, salary! are great... boss was cool but often absent.
great fishing and hunting if you like that sort of thing.
In short a beautiful spot with the usual social problems. Great experience for a year or two ... leave when the schoolies start looking attractive:eek:
