I understand that there is a sizable bump in the runway at Zvartnots. Can someone describe this “bump.” Is it a pot hole or more of rise and fall in the runway slope? Where is it located – how far down the runway is it (either from 9 or 27 direction?

Thanks for any information that you can provide.

The runway was originally concrete slabs joined together. The take-off and landing run was as rough as anything as you ran over the lip of each slab.
They are in the very slow process of resurfacing the runway to a smoother finish; last time I was there as you went from the smooth to the concrete, around 2/3 of way down heading west, you ran over the lip of the tarmac and it gets bumpy again. The lip from the tarmac to the concrete is tapered but it still gives a reasonable jolt. That is in a A320, don't know what size wheels you have.

Resurfacing finished this summer. Still WIP on the ramp and new terminal. Runway now one of the best in the region. No lump of any significance.

Was it laid in Soviet days by the same engineers who built the St Petersburg south side runway ? :)

Nowadays the runway is just fine. No bumps.
