Its not a new name, its a new company. We are all being fired at year end and a select few will be offered jobs. No benefits, no work rules, no seniority and no job security. Very sad end for a sixtysix year old company.

It is only a name change.Route rights world wide all remain in BWIA's name.The general public will never be aware of it, all they will see is Caribbean Airlines Ltd.That is a fact,i promise you,its all a rip off to bust the unions which they have been sucessful,and the unions now know it,but its too late.

Wow, sounds like these types of management scorched-earth tactics are increasingly popularity. I understand that Grupo TACA pilots went through something similar a few years ago. :uhoh:

Fortunately, the world is a pro-pilot's oyster these days with many interesting job situations available worldwide for those willing to emigrate, as you already know NG_Kaptain.

One lesson I learned a few years ago is never feel to comfortable and always keep your resumé up to date.

Pilots at BW were never highly paid, in fact the LIAT turbo prop pilots and the Bristow helicopter pilots made more than the Bwee guys, but what we had was a fun company to be with and a salary that you got by with in our community. The "fat cats" in govt always resented the pilot body and the public had the perception that crew were riding all over leaving revenue passengers behind (which was not the case), what has since happened is that crime and kidnapping have gotten out of control, anarchy has taken over the nice little island and the BW pilots now have nothing worth staying here for. The new contract, or lack of, is not acceptable and we will vote with our feet. The pilots who have put in the most years service and have been instrumental in our great safety record will not be offered jobs in the new company, those being the long haul pilots. Word is that a large number of the Boeing pilots will not take up the offer of the new Grupo TACA, sorry I mean Caribbean Airlines. BTW Panama Jack BW used to be owned by TACA many years ago.
