Aero-Tropics invests $4.7m in Torres Strait
Leading airline Aero-Tropics has invested $4.7m in two newly built Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft to operate accross the Torres Strait by the end of September.
Aero-Tropics CEO Ric Lippman said the major investment represents the airline's commitment to providing the Torres Strait a world-class level of safety and comfort for flying around the beautiful but geographically remote region.
"These brand new aircraft have been built to the highest standard in the United States by Cessna and are equipped with the most advanced avionics and safety equipment available today."
Mr Lippman's announcement about the new aircraft coincides with the news that Aero-Tropics will soon be the only airline that is allowed to sell individual tickets for people wishing to travel to all island destinations acrosss the Torres Strait.
"Being the only operator of non-charter air services to all island destinations in the Torres Strait is a big responsibility and one that we do not take lightly," he said.
"Aero-tropics will continue our wide-ranging support for Torres Strait schools, churches, councils and community groups through free and discounted airfares for their special ocasions."
"For all other occasions, people in the Torres Strait shouldn't forget our fantastic 'SS' special fares that mean passengers can enjoy flights at the same price they were 12 years ago. These 'SS' fares will continue to be on offer for all of our customers."
Mr Lippmann also highlighted that Aero-Tropics has been offering a simple Internet booking service for over a year now.
"To make things even easier for our clients we have web-based bookings available online, as well as a special account holder login facility that allows bookings to be put straight onto their account."
