New Chinese low-cost carrier to start intl. flights by 2008

BEIJING, China - Xiedu Airlines is a new budget airline based in Beijing International Airport planning to launch flights from its main base to Europe and many asian destinations, starting from May 2008.
Mr. Zhang Weibing, airline's chairman, has announced yesterday in Beijing that Xiedu Airlines will be the first carrier to provide direct, comfortable and cheap flights from China to Europe. It plans to begin non-stop flights from Beijing to London Stansted, Manchester, Berlin, Vienna, Milan, Barcelona and Istanbul Sabiha in Europe, as well as Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Cebu, Pusan and Ho Chi Minh City in Asia. Xiedu is also looking to add Dubai or Sharjah in a later stage.
They also announced the airline would lease 4 B767-200 and 3 B737-500 aircrafts to start operations trying to obtain a licence to operate flights to these international destinations in the next months.
Sales are expected to start during summer 2007 through their Web site and travel agents. One-way fares will start at about 180USD excluding taxes and charges for at least 20% of the seats allocations and include hot meals and inflight entertainment.
