Well,

I've just been flying commercially for just under 2 years, presently on the Embraer 145. I'm fairly young (in my early 20s), and still have a major ambition to get into one of the major carriers.

However I'm in a situation where I should make a decision fairly soon about what my next course of action should be. Ultimatly I'm desperate to get into BAor virgin, however having already failed BA twice (first time on day 1, 2nd time on the sim) realistically I could only really have one more go (in the short term), as I feel the need to progress my career in some way...whether it be with another airline.

My mini predicament is whether to stay on with the company that I'm with flying the embraer, and wait for my command.(will be eligible in say 2 years) or try and get with a charter/loco. The problem is that the embraer command will be not much use to me as its too light, and also because it's such a naff type rating alot of the charters don't look at you.(or it could just be me).

So basically I've got 40 odd years ahead of me and I want to make the best use of the time that i have. Any advice??

Thanks randomair

Get an airbus or boeing job with a charter and apply to BA and / or Virgin once you have 1000 hours on it - say 2 years. You've got loads of time on your side.

Sign up with an airline's ab-initio training program that have either Airbus or Boeing in their fleet. You may decide to stay with such an airline rather than progressing to BA or Virgin.

Ab-initio? I think given that he has a licence and a type rating it's a bit late for ab initio! I was in the same position a while ago, opted for the charter route. B757 now B767 command not far away. (I think) ;-)

i'm affraidn to say that whilst flying the embraer is an exciting start to a career its about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!

Get off it asap and get onto a boeing or an airbus to build "propper" jet time. Forget left seat embraer cos its for old timers or those who cant move. if you do it you wont move as the money is ok and is hareder to go right seat again on something decent.

If thinking of BA or virgin you need boeing/airbus.....................harsh but true

Good luck:ugh:
