HI everyone,

Just got the email from Monica. I'm going to be in HKG for the second interview in November. I've read a few posts about the 2nd interview. Since the 2nd interview is 3 days long, does that mean I need to have 3 business suits while I'm there? or is the cocktail party and interview a business suit and the group exercise in business casual? Anyway, please let me know. Thank you.

I only took 1 suit up there, but had a fresh shirt for each day, and another fresh one for the cocktail party (there's washing facilities in the guest lounge, so you can plan to wash up there).
At every event that I had contact with the Cathay Recruitment staff (Interview, sim, cocktail party, sim briefing, group exercise and Hong Kong info session) I wore a full suit (as did all others in the group), but for the medical, maths and psych testing, and English language test, you can leave the jacket in the room, and just go with shirt and tie if you please.
The second interview process actually increased my motivation to want to be in the company (if that is possible) - very well organised and impressive facilities.

My email came in about 6:30PM pacific last night. Don't sweat it yet man, I interviewed early in the week, may have something to do with it. Good luck, hope to see you in November.

You will get your timetable when you check into the Headland. If you see your final interview is after the SIM you may like to have a shower/change of shirt between events! I walked out of that box freaking drenched but thankfully there was about 25 minutes spare to tidy myself up. You don't need to be wondering how much you stink in that final interview:\

Over our two days everything ran on rails- very impressive :ok:

For those guys waiting to hear, were you guys told to call or wait for emails? For both of my interviews it was 'call on the following Friday' so if your still waiting pick up that phone.

I'd give them a ring to ease your mind. By the way, I've got a couple of mates who interviewed for DEFO in the same week, but had different weeks for second interviews. I'm not sure if there is any logical reason to this, but the bottom line is - they are very busy at the moment trying to fit in all the applicants, so don't read anything into it.

yea i tried calling last night (thursday) which would have been Friday morning in hkg. For some reason, Hong Kong is a country that does not allow you to dial with your cell phone using a credit card. I was thinking I would receive an e-mail by morning but I guess I have to wait till Monday to call because Im assuming they do not work weekends there. Thanks for your input guys.

No, I don't have one of them yet. I'm planning on getting a nice tight one-piece tailor made from the stretchy 70's fabric up in Shenzhen. I want to wait until I've built up a nice 'ultra long haul pilot beer gut' though - should take about 6 months by my reckoning!

Safaris WERE compulsory at the cocktail party weren't they?
How'd you get on Ex DD?

I thought I saw you up there last week!

It's all about standing out from the crowd and making a big first impression.

Only grilled for 2 days dreamguy!

One suit will work just fine (for all interview stuff & drinks party).....with a few extra white shirts as mentioned. Hang your jacket up for the sim otherwise you will come out with heat stroke!

There have been guys that took different coloured pants to the jacket and realised upon arrival into HK

.....and the potential to spill your curry at lunch on the first day! So if you're feeling lucky.....1, otherwise a 2nd backup :ok:

Did Monica replace somebody in HR or is she an addition?

What is the usual response time after the first interview? Did anyone phone for their test results? Do you usually hear from Monica in about a week?

No, she's the "Flight Crew Recruitment Specialist". Very helpful thru-out the whole recruitment process.

Normally they'll email you about a week afterwards. After your second interview, YOU normally call up on the following Friday (~1 week later) for the news, which is followed up by mail. They'll tell you this up in HK.

Good luck :ok:
