Bokkenrijder,

Thanks for posting that. Fascinating audio.

Some questions. How do these audio files get created and by whom? And what is the word that the Military controller uses several times as some kind of acknowledgement?

Absolutely fantastic audio!!!

Never knew Dutch Mil spoke in English to their own fighters I just assumed they would speak in Dutch.

Hi,
How do these audio files get created and by whom?
The recordings are made by scanner listeners. This recording was recorded on a PC using special software for this purpose.
And what is the word that the Military controller uses several times as some kind of acknowledgement?

I suppose that you're referring to the word "Bandbox", which is the c/s of Netherlands Airforce Fighter Control.

Cheers!

I wasnt asking you, i was asking Bokkenrijder (http://www.pprune.org/forums/member.php?u=109698), who actually owns the recording!

As for the authoritys, if it was not to be heard, it would be scrambled!

To be precise, Bandbox is the callsign of CRC Nieuw Milligen (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Operations_and_Control_Station_Nieuw_Milligen)

There is no need to get snotty. That you can record the transmissions does not make it legal to do so. Back when I got my R/T licence I had to sign a form stating that all transmission where confidential, and that I was not allowed to divulge any information heard, other than to persons authorized.

A330ismylittlebaby gave you some prudent advice. You better check with the relevant authorities, that it is legal to broadcast it in public before you do so.

"A Northwest Airlines aircraft, flight number Northwest 42, returned to Schiphol Wednesday 23 August at 11:30 escorted by two F-16's. The aircraft had departed to Mumbai with a delay and requested just before the german border to Amsterdam Radar to have a 'security escort' and to return to Schiphol airport. The reason for the return is unknown at the moment. From 11:10 onwards Northwest 42 has dumped kerosine over the IJsselmeer and at 11:19 uur it has been intercepted by two F-16's coming from Leeuwarden airbase and escorted to runway 27. De F-16's, AJ-60 with tail number J-623 en AJ-23 with tail numberJ-204 were at that time practicing in TMA-D (practicing airspace near Volkel) under the supervision of Dutch fighter control Bandbox and could quickly get to the aircraft requesting assistance. The NorthWest aircraft had earlier this morning landed at Schiphol at 6:15 coming from Minneapolis in the United States. Upon return to Schiphol the aircraft went to gate E77. During the return to Schiphol emergency frequency 120.875 Mhz was used while the F-16's were on Bandbox at 376.775 Mhz, with Schiphol at 131.150 Mhz and at 140.875 Mhz between them. The last frequency was used by the F-16 pilots in secure mode. This encryption (KY-58) Was used shortly during the climb from Schiphol after the Northwest aircraft had landed safely, making this part of the communication inaudible"

Someone earlier on posted a link to some radio communication between the plane, fighter planes and the ground. It has been deleted since then. Not sure why.Possibly because it's illegal to rebroadcast it; even as a .wav file :hmm:

Here in the Netherlands parts of FMC's recording were broadcast on very many radio and TV news channels. On a previous similar occasion, the Netherlands airforce released the comms recordings of the interception to the press themselves.

Cheers.

I dunno who actually owns it.

There are links on a few popular Dutch news sites such as http://nu.nl/news/809074/10/F-16%27s_moesten_afstand_houden.html and http://www.geenstijl.nl/mt/archieven/016367.html

p.s. how can you create a link on PPRuNe. (like the way you wrote Bokkenrijder" in your post?)

It must be accepted that there are deeds legal in the Netherlands that are illegal elsewhere. Receiving and recording and onpassing of ATC transmissions is among them.

(There are more)

Never knew Dutch Mil spoke in English to their own fighters I just assumed they would speak in Dutch.During WWII, the Dutch RAF squadrons (322 and 323, among others) used English (of course), and somehow they stuck with it ever since.
.
Not that it always worked flawlessly.
I've never forgotten a conversation in the early '50s... Leeuwarden tower to a Meteor taxying out...
Tower: "Yankee 9-14, your ground power attachment panel cover is still open. Please stop and get somebody to close it."
Y9-14: "Huh?"
Tower: [repeats the same message, sounding slightly annoyed]
Y9-14: "Huh?"
Tower: "Je startklepje hangt open! Stop en wacht tot iemand het komt sluiten!"

That's it. I couldn't make it out and thought it might be a Dutch word. Thanks.
