Posted a couple of weeks ago about saving yourtube vid clips to my hard disc,or rathe my inability to do so,anyway given up on Yourtube,I have however discovered Video Google Videoplay which is similar, not only can I watch the clips on the google website but I can download them to my hard disk, however when I click on the downloaded vid clip icon that appears on me desktop I get the message.
VIDS: DIVX Decompressor missing.

Err what does this mean? and if I have summat missing from whense can one obtain it.
I am still running Win 98, not sure which version of media player I got.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello,

http://www.videolan.org/
Try this player and report back. It usually will play anything you throw at it. Do you have video hardware acceleration enabled in your video card settings?
If you want..you also able to D/L the free version of DiVX codec and player at:
http://www.DIVX.COM
Hope it's help

Regards.

Try This (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DivX_Total_Pack.htm) It might do the job. I use the k-lite mega codec pack on this and so far it plays everything I have downloaded

im surprised that the vlc media player didnt work, ive used it in the past with win98 and it played everything.

you really need to consider upgrading to XP now.
the problems are only going to get worse for peeps with w98 and w2k.

lots of online applications are demanding newer/faster hw/sw platforms for accessing their media.
take google earth for example.

and of course there is no official support now, for w98 etc...
