End Program - sw
Anyone have any idea what this may be; has started to mysteriously turn up on computer shutdown? ...No luck with a web search, apart from one guy on a forum with a similar problem (unanswered).
Thanks.

Couple of suggestions after lots of browsing the net !
Search your PC for "sw.exe" - if its there right click / properties to see if there is any info to help identify what it is / what it does / when and where it came from.
It could be something to do with a program using a "Scrolling Window", and equally it could be connected with SideWinder joystick software if you have such equipment installed.
Have you installed any new software / hardware recently ?

Not getting it myself, but it appears to have popped up fairly recently (MS patch!!??).

Yes that's the "guy" I mentioned in the opening post, but have found a number of similar one's since, all with no answer/solution. ...You've hit the nail on the head in that there is definitely something 'a bit recent' about all this; confirmed by current dates on the above mentioned queries.

Yes, my first thought was to search or try to 'Run' sw.exe, to no avail.
No, re. SideWinder, or hardware/software, apart from a 3G datacard a good few weeks back now.
I have a suspicion about Scrolling Windows only in that I keep coming across passing references to it, but haven't a clue where to start there, re. my own computer.
The thot plickens! from Google:

Relevant bit of removal tool below.
No sign of anything in the 'Run' or 'Software' parts of the Registry (d & e), however there is in f & g. ...But I'm doubly confused because although I have '...\Current Control Set\Enum' with "SW" subkey, I also have 'Current Control Set(s) 001, 002 and 003, two of which also have the subkey but with no instructions to delete (which I am reluctant to do as they all seem Microsoft Audio/Media related, or using such).
?????
a. Click Start > Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
b. Type regedit
c.Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
d.Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Run
In the right pane, delete the value:
"SSConfig" = "SW.exe"
e. Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software
In the left pane, delete the subkey:
"SW"
f. Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum
In the left pane, delete the subkey:
"SW"
g. Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\kmixer\ Enum
In the right pane, delete the value:
"0" = "SW\{B7EAFDC0-A680-11D0-96d8-00AA0051E51D}\{9B365890-165F-11D0-A195-0020AFD156E4}"
h. Exit the Registry Editor.
i. Restart the computer.

Don't know if I'm grasping at straws, but Macromedia (as now in Adobe FlashPlayer) have a SwInstall entry on my Registry, leading to 'Northcode Inc' and 'UnH Solutions'. ...The former is part of FlashPlayer (apparently) and the latter a

program on my computer.
As they are swf orientated, just wondering if they account for the 'SW' ControlSet entries (?).
