What type of headset for 744 / 340

Hi there, just wondering what type of headset is worn on the 747-400 and the A340? Does Cathay supply them or is it your responsibility to purchase your own?

They are provided for both types

I like using my ear piece type headset by Plantronics. At Cathay is it allowed to bring your own or is that frowned upon? Does everyone just use the ones provided?
