Evening (morning) all. Hope you like the TOTW this week, one of my favourite groups. :ok:

1...Questions posted on Monday scran time. Answers whenever I feel like it.

2...2 points for each lyrics question, one for the artist and one for the song title. TOTW/SOTW and trivia questions are normally worth a point apiece, but some questions may ask for additional information worth extra points.

3...The clue in the lyrics question may be any line from the song or chorus.

4...The judges decision is final. Tough noogies.

Additional posts will be ignored and edited posts will be disqualified. After 24 hours or after the first answers have been posted there are no restrictions on posts, (free for all).

Welcome to matt hooks. Feel free to exercise the grey matter anytime. ;)

Rich, in The End Of The Innocence, I was looking for Don Henley, which led into the Bruce Hornsby question in the triv section.

Two points for the original artist of Long Black Veil. Any takers?
Lefty Frizzel - planepsycho :p

Have a good trip RD.

14th Aug 2006, 23:46
Why thankyou pb, I certainly shall!

Out of interest, what is the maximum possible score?

14th Aug 2006, 23:55
matt I have no idea what the max score would be, it varies from one quiz to the next. The format remains similar between both scran and myself, i. e. fifteen or so lyrics questions, a dozen or so theme or artist questions and around twenty trivia questions. Scran usually throws in more artist or theme questions than I do, and I generally add a few bonus trivia questions. It all evens out. We both frown on Googling though. := :p

14th Aug 2006, 23:59
L15 love and happiness/emmylou harris

bonus, bonus, lefty frizzell

Ok smarty, what was the city and the call letters of the radio station in West Virginia where Lee Moore, the coffee drinkin' nighthawk, had his radio show. ;)

15th Aug 2006, 00:16
I resent that accusation! lol.

I must admit I DID google one of the answers. I knew the answer but wanted to make sure I had correct spelling. Is this allowed?

Keep up the good work pb, nothing like a bit of a brain challenge to relieve the strain of the ATPL exams!

Ok smarty, what was the city and the call letters of the radio station in West Virginia where Lee Moore, the coffee drinkin' nighthawk, had his radio show

Wheeling, West Virginia /WWVA:E

15th Aug 2006, 01:17
No probs matt. ;)

pp, I bet you asked yer dad. :p :p

I used to listen to WWVA on a five transistor radio at night, only time you could get it. Five minutes of music followed by five minutes of static as the station faded in and out. :8

We used to have a late sched out of a place up north with the F-27. Used to listen to a request show on WABC from NYC on the ADF. One night, we phoned in a request for The Tide Is High. The announcer was somewhat surprised, to say the least, when we told him where we were. :ooh:
