Hey,

Anyone able to offer the climb segment gradients as used by Cx. Unsure as to whether they are the same as the regs in Australia.
ie. Gross and net requirements

Thanks

Initial Climb Gradient prior to acceleration @ ISA + 15C

MTOW
B744 - 9.4%
B747 - 7.7%
A340 - 7.9%
B777 - 13.2%
A330 - 15.4%

GA @ MLW
B744 - 18.0%
B747 - 13.4%
A340 - 16.9%
B777 - 16.7%
A330 - 21.1%

If the required climb gradient cannot be met a EO procedure will be produced.

I think k was asking if the HK CAD has the same requirements as CASA for minimum climb gradients for certification of transport category aircraft, i.e. positive rate for 2 engine aircraft in first segment, 0.5% for 4 engine, 2.4% and 3% respectively in the second segment, etc.

These are actually requirements of JAR 25 (Airbus) and FAR 25 (Boeing), so unless CASA made up their own, the answer is yes.

Hey Betaboy and SMOC,

Thanks for the replies...
I was referring to the performance requirements of each segment ie. +ve, 1.2% net etc (2 engine) but with reference to 4 engine aircraft.

That makes it clearer and when asked can now spout the correct info.

Thanks a heap.
