View Full Version : Global Event Alert Map

Havaria Information Service operates a global map of events such as armed conflicts, biological hazards, chemical spills, extreme weather, etc. You can sort events by type, get descriptions of events coupled to Google Earth maps, imagine or analyze patterns, and just generally get depressed by the density of things worth worrying about.

Some people using this are in the "risk analysis" business.

No expectation of any extended discussion. For me it's strictly :8 stuff.

Thought some of you might be interested.

Nah - not much good. Doesn't show the stoush between the farmers and the rest of the ratepayers in the Shire of Toodyay over the farmers rates concession.

One has a bit of difficulty believing it's really that quiet in all of South America and Australia, and most of Africa and Russia, compared to the relative chaos all across Europe and N. America. Or is it that reporting is not to the same standard?

Bloody interesting map, though.

I think that the country of origin of the system is Hungary.

The Spooks probably have their own system. Dr Strangelove?

It's showing a heatwave over good old Essex today, but when I looked
outside all the illegal immigrants were huddling together for warmth!

It obviously doesn't refresh very often! :p

No mention of runaway crime, thuggery and the systematic murder of farmers in South Africa but a light dusting of snow in high lying areas is described as a "snowstorm".
