...my house on Google Earth that is.

Cut & paste 51 20 46n, 0 36 05e into the search panel and zoom in. You can even see the kid's tent in the back garden!

Anyone else want to show me theirs for a bit of fun?

MY location's on my 'panel', but we're very low resolution.

G-CPTN
2nd Aug 2006, 21:25
Somebody ELSE said that on another thread, but I've just Googled it by copying and pasting my 'address' as-is from the panel and it worked fine. It might LOOK like mushy peas, but that's because the resolution's so low. SHOULD be midway between the coasts almost on the 55th parallel and longitude 2 West:-
N54 58 34 W02 01 21
Works for me . . .

Zoom OUT if necessary (Village name Corbridge).

Google Earth is pretty variable in currency and resolution of the images.

The NASA 'Terra' and 'Aqua' images on this site:
http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/realtime/2006214/
are almost 'realtime', the resolution at best is 250m, however with broadband you can scroll round the earth and there's a lot to see, especially larger scale features.

The images can be blurred and distorted at the edges but the middle half is usually clear.

G-CPTN
2nd Aug 2006, 21:34
Well now isn't that strange! I pasted
54 58 39.19 N 001 01 52.22 E
and now YOU'RE in the middle of the North Sea!

Ant

are you sure about those numbers?
Seems you
live 50 miles out in the North Sea somewhere darling (oil platform perhaps), but then I don't imagine there's too many farms out there!?!

I've edited it - I was CTRL-tabbing between browsers to get the details instead of copy/paste as copy paste will also give you the full address as it's a bookmarked place!

So, we'll try again!

An awful, awful thought has just emerged!!

There's clearly 2 different quality levels clarity-wise to the images, and what we don't see is the ultra fine detail that only the Military & Govt. ever get to see.

My worry is: there's a portion of our patio completely shielded from the neighbours by walls, trees, shrubs etc.. and its not unknown for Ant & Mrs. to 'enjoy' ourselves in the privacy of our own garden!!! You won't tell anyone, will you fellow PPruners?

Do you think President Bush and various advisors are, as we speak, laughing at what we thought of as being a totally private passtime!! Is he tapping in my co ordinates into his 'Gold Card ' version of Google Earth and looking at my various personal parts?? The shocking PERVERT!!

G-CPTN

Our place is the blue roof right in the middle, at the apex of the group. You can clearly see how development is overtaking nature.

We still have a bit of jungle at the back, but its fast disappearing and there's much less wildlife wandering into our garden these days. :(
