I read elsewhere that all of this was planned in 2006, which seemed a little ambitious?

I'm particularly interested know when DUB is being introduced - they can leave the rest of them until 2007! ;-)

Incidentally, I believe that the new 332s, once delivered (currently delayed due problems with seating supplier?) will be going into service on IST-JFK.

As Turkey's stature grows, how long before direct LON to ESB routings will be on the cards?

Turkish Airlines wants to boost cooperation with PIA
ISTANBUL (May 17 2006): Turkish Airlines wanted to expand co-operation with PIA to increase passenger and cargo business. This was stated by the executive vice president Turkish Airlines Haul Tokel while talking to visiting journalists from Pakistan at airlines head office.
Executive vice president technical Dr Ismail Demir was also present on the occasion. He said that his airline was considering starting another flight between Istanbul and Islamabad and later to Lahore. He pointed out that his airline had already signed agreement with PIA for providing right to fly to Pakistani airline and sharing passengers for different destinations.
To a question, he said Turkish Airlines would seriously consider operating freighter service for Pakistan to carry its export of perishable items for fast delivery to various destinations in Europe.
"We can buy freighter to take Pakistani export cargo," he added.
Tokel said there would not be any visa restrictions between the Islamic countries particularly for Pakistan and Turkey if they wanted to boost trade within Islamic block.
He said that that issue would be raised at various forums to relax visa restrictions between Islamic countries. He told newsmen that during the last three years, Turkish Airline had doubled its fleet, rising from 56 to 90 and then 105 in coming August this year.
Tokel said Turkish Airline had grown very fast and posted a net profit of dollars 100 million in 2005 with a turnover of dollars 2.4 billion. In 2006, they expected to grow by 40 per cent, he noted.
He said airline business in the world was growing at a rate of 15 to 20 per cent, but airlines of Turkey and China were growing at much faster rate.
He said passenger traffic on Turkish Airline had grown from nine million three years ago to 18 million this year. Tokel pointed out that Turkish government would further off- load 25 per cent of its share in the airline in next days, making a total of 50 per cent of its share in the hands of public.

Atlantic Airlines has applied to the CAA to operate on a wet lease five of Ming Airlines Fokker 27s.

The lease application seems to be for at least a year at the moment.

The aircraft they have applied to wet lease are TC-MBA to TC-MBE

This is due to the late arrival of more ATPs

Have they been able to pick up extra contracts due to Emerald Airlines folding?

Or will these replace some of the leased aircraft they are operating at the moment like the Farnair ATR42??:ok: :ok:

One of the well known writers for Turkish daily newspaper Sabah, Meliha Okur expressed her ideas about Turkish Labor Union (TIS) crises between Turkish Airlines (THY) and Labor Union for (HAVA-Is)…'Last Tango in THY!''

THY management belongs to government. It is obvious how it is inspected and it has 11500 employees. Confusion is in up rise…

%51 of its shares are open to public and the rest belongs to Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Privatization Administration . We are talking about the only national airline of Turkey.

You will say:”What’s wrong with THY?”

Lots of things..

First of all no solution for labor agreements until know started in 16 March. Meeting process couldn’t come to an end for THY Co. And THY Technique Co.THY management doesn’t take serious HAVA-Is which is a member of TIS.

None of the management members joined the meetings for 120 days.

Is it acceptable?

Strike signs will be hung in THY tomorrow. It is just the middle of the high summer season and THY roars for strike.

If the parties don’t agree and a strike action will start, Turkey must get ready for a 2,5 billion $ loss for 2008 tourism season. Who will be responsible for it?

There is nothing to say!

A country in the route for EU still scares from labor unions. Agreements fail between labor unions and company managements.

Who is guilty?

But THY answered laborers by %10 wage increase in 27 June to the request of %23 increase for the first half of 2007. The answer is quite amazing, isn’t it?

THY made a long jump upwards for the last 5 years. Raised the number of aircrafts from 60 to 103 in its fleet and reached a rate of development between %30 to 40.

Therefore THY employees request a better management, better wages. But there is no agreement for now.

What’s going to happen?

Labor Union for Airline workers ask for a hole new agreement conditions through the next 60 days process that will start with strike signs hanged!..

THY keeps a quite consideration!..

What about Mark Mobius, manager for Templeteon Fond that has 2 members in THY management board with its %9 share.?

Has anybody at TK noticed the movements of pax between the South West UK and IST.

Particularly the movements from Wales.

Last figures published by CAA showed large surface leakage to London to catch flights to IST.

Now with EZY also serving the region from LON, surely TK should look at something that secures this market before the LCC boys do?

Dragon tracker,

Spot on, there are are lot of business links between South Wales and Turkey, particularly between the steel industry and domestic appliance manufacurers. Lots of passengers either interlining via AMS or trekking down the M4.

TK are mean to be joining Star aren't they? Nothing like co-operation between partners ...

Are TK cutting back on IST-LHR, or have they got extra LHR slots?

From Saturdays Turkish Daily News (http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=80655).

In the article it says that between 89 and 99 percent (depending on company)of the workforce voted. That seems incredibly high!

I fly for Turkish Airlines and recent rumors in and around the company is that Turkish Airlines is planning on getting 4 of Alitalia's B777-200ER's. I suppose Alitalia is planning on letting 10 of their 777's go due to financial difficulties.

Did anybody hear about this? Thanks,

Great news indeed Seljuk22

Have used TK a couple of times [Economy] DUB-IST and they have been excellent.
Not a well marketed brand here in the "far" Northwest but their recent awards e.g. European Airline of the year etc are in my experience well merited.

It's a A330-300 but more importantly need to know if the seats r comfy? the airport safe and if the gates between TR 6 and TR 62 is far.
