I am thinking of coming to Finland in August, from England, in a Cessna 150.

I know nothing about Finland. Can anyone suggest some interesting airfields/places/people to visit?

Do you know of any articles which have been written by people who have toured Finland by air? I can find nothing!

Also are there things which I need to know? For example, what is the price of Avgas?

Any information gratefully received.

Chris

http://www.finavia.fi/ais/vfr/ (VFR in Finland) is a good place to start. The Avgas prices are around 1.76-1.86 e/ltr.

Some airports with nice surroundings are Pori, Vaasa and you must promise me not to miss Savonlinna and the Vendace bar on top of hotel Serahuone, very nice stuff.
On your way to Finland, may I suggest you go via Barkarby in stockholm, the local EAA chapter with lots of helpful GA friendlies. Once past Stockholm, I suggest Mariehamn on Åland. Nice!

Check www.lentopaikat.net (http://www.lentopaikat.net) for non-controlled airfields in Finland, not very much information in English - but very beautiful pictures :ok:
