Spend some months in the north :) and i'm now interested to hear if there are any chances to find a job as helicopterpilot? But day after day offshore business isn't mine. I'm a more than 5000h rescue pilot on Eurocopter twins and feel better with ground under my belly. Holding a valid JAR-ATPL and i'm also experienced on AS350, Bell 206 and MD500's. But in the last years i have flown mostly rescue missions day and night with a lot of hoisting, short haul and external loads.

Well you certainly sounds experienced enough. I think the biggest problem you'll find is that it's such a tiny market for that type of flying. It's tricky to get a job flying at all in Sweden because of this fact and helicopter jobs are even more scarse. Language might be an issue as well if you don't speak a scandinavian language, it typically is for the airplane operations anyway. Best of luck!

Thanks Gnirren,

as i wrote before just checking out the chances. My wife could have immediately a job here and it seems to me that i'm as a helicopterpilot couldn't find my way so easy. But my mom allways told me not be such a circus acrobat :) :) :) and if i'm could be a MD or a mining specialist...

Hi greenthumb,

how is the story going on?

On of my friends with nearly the same background as you checked out the scandinavian helicopter market and he is thinking there are no real job chances in this area? The operators are mostly very small and do not need foreign pilots. The few off-shore jobs seems to be boring? For "ground based" helicopter pilots, you know the sling loaders, the rescuers or the FI's nearly no jobs seems to be available.

Thanks m99!

@Quichotte

tricky! As you said most companies are small and have fixed stuff personal. No questions about my qualifications. Some seem to be interested, but ...

In the off-shore business chances are greater but as i said on the thread-start i'm not so interested in flying on fixed routes off-shore.

Lufttransport A/S was very nice but their Operations Manual requires that all pilots have a very good knowledge of a scandinavian language. And i'm not a born scandinavian.

Keep you informed!
