Air Canada are launching a new non stop flight from St Johns to Heathrow replacing the current shared flight with Halifax. The new service will be operated by an Airbus A319. See Air Canada web site/Press Releases for more.

The locals won't like it but apparently the loads on the 767 weren't great... I've often wondered if a 319 from YYT-DUB / YYT-SNN (i.e. YYZ-YYT-DUB, YUL-YYT-SNN) would work in winter when AC doesn't go.

I'd like to see AC go year round from DUB to YYZ! I'd also like to see DUB-YVR or YUl, but thats probably pushing it! Maybe EI will pick up a DUB-YYZ route!

I would see AC re-starting there Glasgow flight flight before NCL. The GLA flight was pulled due to lack of aircraft i belive, But would be good to see AC at NCL.

No, the Lufthansa/Privatair route from Munich to Newark uses a 737-700 which is smaller.

I was thinking just the same thing about DUB/SNN, MarkD. Even if the 319 can't do SNN-YYZ, it could do SNN-St. John's/Halifax. Aren't there quite a few fishing communities in those parts which actually speak Irish?

Frankly, with all of the 757s coming from the US - CO, AA, NW (from next year), US, Shannon seems to be having things better than ever.

Of course, there may need to be changes to the Irish/Canadian bilateral - which is extremely illiberal, to allow this to happen. Not sure if St. John's/Halifax are nominated entry points for Ireland? Frankly, given that the UK has just gone for Open Skies, Ireland should do likewise. Don't see that happening right away, but at least the EU is soon to go for an Open Skies deal with Canada (which will hopefully be less traumatic than the EU/US deal!)

Air Canada's first B777 to arrive in Montreal on March 31st, and will begin service to YYZ-LHR in early April.

Air Canada will have 8 of their 18 ordered B777's in service this year, with service to Frankfurt starting in July, Hong Kong in August, and their first B777-233LR C-FIUA scheduled to fly to Australia.

Air Canada B777-333ER C-FITL made its first flight today as BOE741 and seen PAE in full c/s.

Pretty uneventful flight. Arrived in LHR 13 minutes early.

Not bad for their first A319 ETOPS flight.
