Hope you have plenty of time at your desk to read LASORS (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?categoryid=33&pagetype=65&applicationid=11&mode=detail&id=1591) - should be clear as mud!

Tartan Stazi, if you have 2000 hr total time, with 1500 as PIC you should meet the LASORS D3.3 definition of an 'Experienced QSP'.

In which case you will only need to:
1. Get a JAA Class 2 medical from a CAA-authorised AME. Some service quacks can do this at your annual bollock-fondling session.
2. Pass PPL Air Law.
3. Do whatever single engined piston refresher flying you will need to prepare you for the PPL Skill Test.
4. Pass the PPL Skill Test with a PPL Examiner - you will be credited the navigation section.
5. If you have a current green IR, you can also apply for an IMC rating at the same time.
6. If you meet all the night requirements (which you undoubtedly do), your PPL should also include night qualification.

You can do all the above at the Brize Norton Flying Club Ltd which is probably your nearest RAF Flying Club.

PM me for further gen.

LASORS 2006 has some errors in it concerning military accreditation - I have confirmed the actual requirements with the Belgrano mates.

Thanks for that. I have 60 odd hours in a chipmunk from flying Air Cadets back in 1994, will that count as my previous SEP experience or is it too out of date?

If you are at HQSTC then the RAF Benson flying club is a lot closer, and much cheaper than Brize. You might also think about joining the AEF there but there could be a bit of a wait as the waiting list is long... get your name down nonetheless!

Tartan Stazi, that flying will indeed count as previous SEP flying. There is no specifically mandated flight training which you will need - just 'sufficient' to pass the PPL Skill Test.

Tartan,
did all this a short while ago. Also at Innsworth so PM me and we can talk about it over a coffee. Nearest RAF flying club is Brize but Lyneham is cheaper.
