I am hoping to book a day trip to Manchester soon flying with Air Berlin from Stansted. I will be flying up on the first flight and then back again on the last flight, so will have around 6/7 hours free. What is MAN airport like to spend at for the day? Is there enough to keep you interested or would it get a bit boring? I have chose MAN mainly because I really want to try Air Berlin's new domestic service from Stansted.

Thanks

Spent a day at Manchester earlier in the year (I wanted to try the new Flybe service from Exeter). Busy for most of the day with a quiet patch in the early afternoon - but they were still on winter schedules then!

Depends what your interests are.

Its a good place if you like watching aircraft. Peak times are 07.00 - 09.30 and 16.00 - 18.00. Transatlantic scheduled arrivals between 07.15 and 09.15 ish with departures generally between 10.00 - 12.00.

Good aircraft viewing from central food court on first floor between terminals 1 & 3. No aircraft views from Terminal 2.

You can take a short bus ride to the Aviation Viewing Park which was specifically created for viewing aircraft arrivals and departures. On public view within the AVP is Concorde G-BOAC, an RJX and the cockpit section of an ex Monarch DC10.

There are 2 runways but single runway operation applies between 12.00 and 15.00.

If you are interested in aircraft movements just let me know what date you intend to visit and I will compile a list of aircraft movements for the period of your visit.
