Gday all,

Ive searched, but unable to find my answer...

ANyone know where new CS recruits flying out of jandakot live? I know the company doesnt provide any accomodation, but if your headed for Merredin soon after, who will give you a lease for a few months? How do guys normally find accomodation? Anyone on the inside which has just done it or know what the go is?

Cheers

They have company accom in Merredin. As for jandakot most boys band together and rent a place.

Rental property in JT or surrounds should not be too hard to find. If you are needing somewhere to stay short term, try and get your hands on the West Australian. It is always chokkas with people looking for boarders (just don't tell them how short you intend to stay :E )

MDN will be the hard place to get accomodation, although CS has built instructor accomodation at the strip they would normally be full and they are too far out of town. You will need to make friends fast with someone who does not drink :}:E :(

Pilots in MDN stand out like sore thumbs, and the 'Twisted Sisters' (the realestate operators) generally are not very helpful to the pilots as they are not stable tennents (and the fact that a few instructors many moons ago rebuilt their motorcycles in the lounge room in a new house on the Northside of town. The upperclass end of MDN :} :} :E := )

Good luck, and if you send me a PM with some details I will be more then happy to try and locate something for you

There was actually somebody at MDN when I was there that was a non-drinker. He hated every second of his time there, but he was focused on what he wanted (build hours and save money), and he eventually got what he wanted :ok: :ok:.

There were several others who never socialised with us on weekends, rather drive to Perth whenever they could. There was no JT base then and we were allowed use of the company bus for our personal outings, so often we would all go to the Big Smoke for the weekend :D.

If you don't run amuck in MDN, you will go crazy, but there is NO WAY I would have lived at the airport had the accomodation been built then!

Have fun throwing stones at the telegraph poles Bula :E :} :ok:

Cheers

PS is the current roster pattern, 5 on 2 off, 4 on 2 off?

Aussie

It will depend on how often you fly
How well you fly
And when they need you in MDN

If you go from a 0 hr Instructor, you could have your 100 hrs abinitio in about 7 weeks doing 15 hrs per week (easy at CS)

But do keep in mind though that just because you can clock up the hours quickly, that you have to developed the required skills yourself to be upgraded.

And if they are taking up to 10 days for interviews, I don't imagine that they will be giving uprades away.

hahaha... sneaky russian :) It can still be an olympic sport. Its all about hand eye co-ordination and if your not good well Merredin will teach you ways you have never imagined (if you get my drift) :)

Thank god i'm not there anymore.... great times but JESUS

Aussie,

Yes. 5 on, 2 off, 4 on, 2 off. 2 week roster, recurring.

Most new instructors arrive as senior 3s. Most of the rest are junior 3s or grade 2s. Not many grade 1s.

Company accomodation at the airport for 19 instructors and in Merredin town for another 7 or so at present. CSWAFC charges $50pw rent. Some other instructors rent their own places in town.

Thanks again...

Also, i have the Grob operating manual, the ne they give to all new instructors...

Any idea on how much of that your expected to memorize, or is that what the standardization is all about?????

Aussie its good to see that your thinking ahead and organising accommodation...its good to see that your doing your ground work” well done" to that.... not many people get through the standardization and only a small amount of applicants get through... so if I was you I would try to focus more on the check flight and standardization....:) AND if your doing your test at Jandakot GOOD LUCK cos you will need it! try and get it done at Merriden...:oh: :oh: :oh: :O

"not many people get through the standardization"

Not true. :hmm:

95% pass.

The ones that don't get through can be neatly placed in one of the following boxes. They:

1) are not prepared to digest and learn by rote the very detailed SOPs - not willing to put in the work
2) have trouble pattering and flying at the same time - not good instructors. Average maybe, but not good.
3) have trouble flying accurately - not good pilots
4) have substantial instructional experience but have a strong preference for doing it 'their 'way, and are not sufficiently motivated to learn the CSWAFC way - not flexible
5) have some combination of the above - not employable by CSWAFC

If you are willing to work quite hard for the week that standardisation takes and have the 'right' attitude, you will be fine.

For those that are willing to put in the work, this is a very rewarding job. You get solid hours and, for GA, good money. And job satisfaction.

And that's not all bad.

:ok:

95% pass.??????
YOU ARE FULL OF IT MATE...
When I was working there, ONLY and I say ONLYY 3/10 people would get through... OK!
It is a difficult process and it’s very hard to get through.... cut the crap mate! Most people don’t even get through the initial check flight with the phase one manager... I even remember witnessing a heap of Grade 1 Instructors with thousands of hours and not getting through it…. Aussie needs to be prepared and he also needs to ask a lot of questions in regards to the process and what’s required because once he gets there he will be up for a shock..... For some reason, its normally the Grade Three Instructors that can manage to squeeze through..... so obviously experience doesnt count! also make sure you are clear with your "patter" and try not to use any aussie "SLANG" (that colourful language we speak in Australia that seems to baffle other people no-end). Why? Because the Chinese will only understand the basics of the english languadge and will have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about..

Aussie,
If you have any questions regarding the check flight and employment process I can help you... as I have heaps of notes on it

95%... uummmmm... maybe closer to 60-70% unless standards have dropped since I've departed....

Just put the work in.... it really aint that hard. If you cant handle the CSWAFC SOP's then i'm really sorry to say by they are just basics when compared to an airline operation...

Good luck

Archangel7,

I apologise to you.

1) I didn't realise you worked at CSWAFC.

Today you claim:
" When I was working there, ..."

But on the 9th June 2006 your post, since removed, said:
"..but I stupidly signed and didn't get through because the assistant manager obviously didn't like something about me and I didn't get though because of him." And "...The process for me was an awful and painful experience..."

2) And I obviously "AM FULL OF IT" (mate)

Woomera ……Yikes, that message shouldn't have been posted...it contains inappropriate content

DragginnAir I apologise to you too, thats was the responce I was looking for, at least I know who you are now, I didn’t realise you saved my last post on this topic which I personally volunteered to take off the thread and it wasn’t woomera.. because I didn’t want to discourage any future instructors from applying for the company....Unless you want me to re-paste it? I dont feel uncomfortable at all, I personally could'nt give a sh.it about you and your company mate! It was years ago that It happened maybe its changed now I dont know... But are'nt I permitted to give any advice?Because I can sit here and write a 5000 word essay as to why you should'nt apply for CSWAFC......but, I feel tempted to:)

PS: DA....PM me, because this wont be the last.....

Hey Arch "up" Angel,

How does it feel to be part of the 5% that dont get through?

It looks like you're an angel who should never have had wings in the first place.

If you have the time to write a 5000 word essay I take it your'e still unemployed.

archangel7

gotta love when people make generalisations
All angels have wings... I don’t have wings I just have a commercial pilots license have we'll deserved "artificial" wings if that’s how you want to put it. I am a part of an aerobatics demonstration team, believe me it’s easy, we can fly 50 centimeters from each other, 50 might seem dangerous, but any pilot could do the same. With practice, believe me, it's easy. I've done it myself, almost every flight. If we were meant to fly we'd have wings? ...and we don't. We don't have wings. I know you've probably seen anime where people grow wings or something, but it's not real. We don't have wings, so we'll just have to settle with planes. I also have an aerobatics training approval...All aerobatic maneuvers demand hard training, precise flying and lots practice to avoid accidents and quick recovery.

And as a matter of fact, you are right:ok: I am unemployed in Aviation, only for the moment... I am working a real job for now, paying off my house and earning lots of $$$ to save up for the metro endorsement...I am only flying for sports-general purpose and part time instructing... so yeah, It feels great being a part of that 5% category...:ok:

I didn't know Flight sim had that capability.:ooh:

If your flying was so sh!t hot, then why did you screw the first flight?

PS: How do you get a metro add on for flight sim?:}

To archangel7 aka arch "up" angel and morbid angel,

Do you really expect people to believe your tall tales and stories, considering all the previous contradications you have placed on this thread so far? := Give it a rest kiddo, lose that chip on your shoulder and move on.

You didn't cut the mustard and didn't get the job, you're obviously incapable of putting this behind you because you're still surfing pprune for threads such as this and jump at the opportunity to give unqualified statements about the company. You did standards and didn't get in, whoopdidoo. :ugh:

Dragginair has spoken well, pointed out all necessary areas that Aussie should read because they are the most accurate that have been placed on this thread so far.

As far as I'm concerned your path to success is made on your own; you need make your own luck and create your own opportunities; you don't whinge, moan and carry on about the past.

And for the next time archie, don't try to provide red herring advice; you obviously had a bad week!

Kind regards,

GUYS!
I AM OVER IT.........I was just saying ITS NOT EASY and for AUSSIE not to expect an easy process ...thats allll!!! I was just telling him its not easy :rolleyes:Dont be so paranoid people...Its just an opinion.... and cut it with the generalisations... assumption is the biggest mother of all stuff ups! You dont know who I am and who i know...
Why is it that I cant express my opinion? do you believe that everyone truly should have the right to their own opinion? even if it differs from yours? i really believe this. even if i disagree 100% with the other side of an argument! Everyone is entitled to an opinion and one should not force one's ideas on others. This is what makes us humans and not sheep! All opinions are worthy of discussion for that reason, so we can all become enlightened in the process.
As far as I'm concerned your path to success is made on your own; you need make your own luck and create your own opportunities; you don't whinge, moan and carry on about the past.
That’s true, and I agree but ....
who’s winging? I know I'm not........I'm just sticking up for my right to speak and give my opinion on this topic... from my experiences! And it seems that you guys are very paranoid about it.... you can’t stop someone from stating his opinion. It’s just my opinion and Aussie can take it any way he likes!
