Turboprop headsets

I'm just wondering what type of headsets do pilots use in turboprops like the Brasillia and Saab 340? Can you use the usual GA type headsets (DC, Bose, etc...) or are these not compatable?

Went into a Hawker BizJet once for a visit and the pilot used Bose Headsets. You still talk over the intercom like a Cessna

Most Guys in my company use the David Clarks, I have a set Telex 3500's. No probs with our intercom compatability, one guy has the Bose headsets too, also no probs.

What are peoples thoughts on the various ANR headset options as far as the different brands go?

How are Bose, DC, Sennheiser etc. for comfort, weight, durability, build quality and so on?

Has anyone been able to compare the reduction capabilities of any of these brands?

Which brands/units take AA batteries?

Thanks Jet*.............I'll try and get a peek at a copy.

But I'm inclined to give a bit more weight to the opinions of those in the field than some journo trialling a few for the weekend.

As an example.......Sennheiser have long been a manufacturer of headphones, and I don't doubt the quality of their product (I've got a pair of their cordless headphones), but how will they fare in the heat and dust of the oz outback??

Never tried a Boss x or Sennheiser but for strength and durability I think DC's go well.
Company supplies standard DC's but after going to ANR's will never go back

I agree. We use DC ANRs as standard.

I have used DC headsets over many years in piston and turboprop aircraft ,including the noise cancelling model. I was not all that happy with the noise cancelling DC. The outfit I now work for provide Bose X - they are the best headset I have ever used, comfortable and very effective - hardly know you are wering them.

Rumour has it that the guys in saabs and dash 8's take them off above 10k coz they don'y have to worry about listening out for lighties anymore...
