Plz Advice !!

Hi All,

I am trying to send pictures via an email however the size is really huge hence it wont really let me attach it. I guess there is a way where in we can save the images and reduce the size and it does not spoils the resolution of the pic... I reckon its through Adobe but i cant remember it now.. :ugh:

Please can some one advice me how can i do it ?? Or if there is any other way I can reduse the size of the pics. :)

There's plenty of free software around to do that. Have a search on ZDnet or Tucows and you will get lots of choices.

If you are running windows xp just right click on the picture file and select send to,then mail recipient it should give you the option to reduce the size

Try Irfanview, which will let you resize accordingly. Some of my JPGs are up to 7MB in size (Nikon D200) and most ISPs cough at that. A quick resize will often bring it under 250KB. If you have Photoshop, use the "Save for web" option. many other graphics packages will do something similar, but good old Irfanview is free and is an indespensible piece of software for camera owners.

Another thought - Photobucket. Get a free account and you can upload to a website and let people see your offerings there.

Away for a few days at Fairford, (Taking yet more Pics...) but you will solve your problem easily using any of the above.

Fisrtly you cannot really reduce an image's file size without degrading it. However you can rduce the file size and still have an image that looks good on screen. Ifranview or GIMP will do that for you for free.

Photobucket or Flickr etc. woudl let you upload and share the images with either people you choose or the world at large.

If you want to send large images and get webspace with your email account you could ftp (FTP = file transfer protocol) them to your web space / ftp server space for whoever needs them to download. FileZilla if a good free ftp package.

Your problem is not the file size but the size the server allows............ the LIkes of Hotmail is limited to 1 MB in size.

Now if you want to send a really big file such as a picture as you suggest................... and I am posting this for the information of all on here. simply use a service that will do it for you...............

you simply register as a FREE user and it allows you to send files to people of up to a 1 GIG in size................. you upload to their site and it sends and email to the recipricant to tell them it is ready for download............... no more file size problems or having to squash them down to be usable and lose resolution............... Job Done ALL FOR FREE advantage is you can send to multiple people too for a single upload :)

Nut, you are indeed loose. These days, file size is VERY important. Megapixels are not a good indicator of quality, but more of filesize. If you check around with any recent camera software, you will almost certainly find an option for emailing. There are some colossal filesizes generated for even a high quality JPG, as opposed to RAW file, (as I said, my own are up to 7MB) but a simple operation will cut them to >250KB and that is what you want. Bandwidth and inbox capacity are what you need to consider these days.

Loose nutz, my Hotmail gives 10mb attachments as standard, as part of the free basic package.:)
