GDay,

Anyone know how much importance the results from your ATPLs take in an interview with an Airline, such as VB, CX, QF ect?

Welcome to the interview.

Tell us a bit about yourself...... blah blah blah...blah...blah

What do you think of Sydney?..... Oh I love it.... all my mates are here!

Have you ever been in an inflight emergency?....... I once ate a dud sausage roll and was an hour from a dunny.

What do you like doing in your spare time?..... Football, porno, books about war.

So, you have your ATPL subjects?..... Yes.

Where did you do your ATPL subjects? ..... In the US.

Really, so where did you work in the US?..... Oh I didn't, I just went there for the subjects.

Ummmm OK. Thanks for your time.... We will be in touch!

In OZ, I think it's more a case of "Where" rather than "How well"

G'day Aussie,
What Mr Buzzy suggests is basically correct. I've been to few interviews including QF & CX ( Didn't get in though) , none seem to care about my ATPL marks, just so long as I had my ATPL.

I have been asked did I do my ATPL in Australia. I have heard in the past that foreign validations were frowned upon, whether this is now the case I'm not sure.

Good luck anyway

Cheers

CX requires passes in all ATPL subjects without exemption. In other words you didn’t get your Australian ATPL by going to the USA and getting the Yank one and then converting it to an Aus one.

Virgin Blue are the same as CX. Not worried about the marks, just that you've got them in Australia and not out of a weeties packet from the USA.

A check of the Qantas website for direct entry S/O will tell you that, in addition to a whole multitude of information they require from you, a CASA Pre-requisite report is also required. In other words, you will need to provide evidence not only that you possess a pass in all 7 subjects, but a listing of individual scores and how many attempts it took you to obtain a pass for each subject in the first place.

Me thinks they're a lot more interested in whether you simply have them or not...
