Due to a computer glitch (and being too busy for my own good) ,I have been very slack in replying to the many pm"s that I have been sent. First .Thank you. Excellent posts that really helped.
RIGHT OR WRONG I have taken the job for my own reasons and the future it offers my family.

Reality check.I think some people forget

Since Sept 11 the aviation world has turned into a dog eat dog LCC sh#tfight. The good old days are gone.period. So where to from here.
I was amazed by some of my fellow applicants who thought they could just walk in and start telling Emirates how lucky they would be to have them in Emirates .I was not so surprised how many applicants were also rejected .
The PM answers confirmed a lot of what I thought was true. There are a lot of very good hard working people in Emirates who enjoy their life and know how to live. You only get one shot/..........glass half empty/full stuff. It is the reality .We are on this planet for a very short time.
For those that hate EMIRATES ,look around, believe me there are lots of big jobs happening and coming up.There are lots of jobs you may go to that WILL be worse .
From the paperwork I have received from EMIRATES ,resignation is always an option to anyone unhappy with their lot .Just walk away and start over if you truely believe you will be better off. IF enough people leave things will change. It is after all an Airline totally staffed by Expats .
Everyone has to make their own decision . I was accepted to a couple of other carriers at the same time and regardless of how poor you THINK the money is in Emirates the package is still good.I have been treated well by Emirates throughout the entire Interview /Acceptance process.
I was told that with the Delay on the 380 that Direct entry Captains will be a thing of the past .For Those still wondering ...at least apply, you lose nothing
Thanks again for all the information .

Fair enough, you've decided to come, sure try it out and I hope it works. It is an exciting move to make. However............

A word of warning tho'

"I was told that with the Delay on the 380 that Direct entry Captains will be a thing of the past"

I would be very careful about believing what people tell you here, lying is a way of life. The interview process as far as I know was very pleasant for all of us, does that mean that EK will be just as nice once you have joined?

I am not disagreeing with you, I am just saying be careful what you take at face value in the ME.:ok:

Also the airline is not totally staffed by expats, there are a lot of local chaps in positions as well.

Resignation is fair enough but it's not something you do in a day or even a week here.

Good luck

Goodluck with the move mate.
From your post you appear to have come to your decision for good reasons, probably the best reasons to enable you and yours to enjoy the change.
Stick with it. Most of us still think it's a good place to be, most of the time.

Relaxed,

I was told that with the Delay on the 380 that Direct entry Captains will be a thing of the past

And you believed them? DECs at EK have nothing to do with shortages but more to do with minimum cost. To upgrade an F/O takes an extra training course. If you read some of the F/Os posts you'll note that they were also told that guys removed from a recent upgrade course were only removed because they were MFF qualified and couldn't be spared. Their replacements, all with less seniority, were MFF qualified. Go figure.

Reality check.I think some people forget...We are on this planet for a very short time.

People don't forget, when they are here they see how their own life has been affected and then make comments relating to themselves. Best of luck to you, I am sure it will work out. Just understand that DECs will still be employed and maybe you will understand where some of the other guys have been coming from.

Hi Ghost . No I said I was told , not that I believed them .I will give this place a good try for the next few years and If I am not satisfied I will leave ,Life is too short.
Vickers are you in EK ? You say GB . Ihave until now had nothing to do with EK or Management or PR .Thanks anyway. If it makes you feel any better ,This could be my gigantic mistake .It is all one big adventure and if I am not happy with my decision /life in a few years ,I will leave,

Life is too short.

We will agree ,EMIRATES is NOT for everyone .From some of the responses I have received ,some people made a bad choice going there.
