View Full Version : AN-12 CRASH IN CONGO 06-07-06

1. There has been a civil cargo plane crash approx 10km NW of SAKE, this
afternoon(exact time Not known). QRF and rescue party ex IndBatt-3/VI is
presently at the site and looking for survivors. Available information as
of now, as under:-

a. AN-12 aircraft bearing No 9Q-CVT with 06 crew.
b. As per details provided by Civil ATC GOMA, this aircraft with a
crew of 06(SIX) members tooks off from GOMA airport at 07 1342B Jul 06 for
KISANGANI. ETA KISANGANI was 1447B.
c. News of a suspected air crash was received at approx 1700B,
from various sources. 03 x QRF and search and rescue teams ex IndBatt-3/VI
immediately moved for the reported accident site. The party reached
the site at aprrox 1805B (involving a steep climb along the mountain
side).
d. The markings on the aircraft debris were checked and found to
be the same as written in Para 1a. As of now, 01(ONE) body has been
recovered. The debris is spread over a Km, and most of it is still
burning. One of the papers recovered from near the cockpit has the word
Mango Airlines and 9U-BHN written on it.Search is still
continuing.
e. TWO ambulances with doctors(ex Level-III) has been kept standby
at SAKE. One Ambulance with support staff is already at the road head
from where the search party climbed the mountain to the wreckage
site.

2. Update would be forwarded subsequently.

2. No survivors have been found as yet. It has been ascertained that the
aircraft had a crew of 06(SIX) , 04 Russian Nationals and 02 Congolese.
The patrol has returned and will commence the search operations at
first light on 08 Jul 06.
