Anyone know what the go is there these days.

I landed there in the early 80s was politely asked to leave...has it changed?

Hi Chuck,

funnily enough was just enquiring about this through a local today.

Apparently pay $20 to the shop after landing, tie up and enjoy.

Stay on the grassed areas - if there has been no rain there for a while the sand will love and hug your nosewheel. A call to the Orchid beach store would be worthwhile.

Gerry Geltch operates in there with his Airvans as well, so he would be worth a call - Air Fraser Island.

Was there last week and the locals are very welcoming as long as they know you're coming, landing fee is $15, payable at the shop. As ****su said the sand is a bit soft and loves to hug the undercart but aside from that the strip was in great condition.
Phone number is 07 4127 9220.
Enjoy your flight, it's a top spot!

Had a perfectly idyllic hour or two there in June. Mosied up the western shore after crossing from Hervey Bay, enjoying close up of fishing boats then crossed to that little grass strip on the east side just a few miles back from the northern tip. Stretched the legs then aimed the Wee J3 down 75 Mile Beach, partially slope soaring the dunes, watching the 4WDs appearing out of the haze like latter day Lawrences. (Noted several "road" signs on the beach warning drivers to watch out for aircraft taking off or landing.)

Aaahhhh . . . . a day for blessing counting and intoning "it's great to be alive."
