Hi,
Wonder if someone could help me with a query. I'm an Irish citizen and I have a JAA ATPL with all the ratings, S.E. up to multi jet, thousands of hours. I also have an Australian special licence (a ppl issued on the basis of a foreign licence), . It is indefinate and of the non picture type.
Flying aeroplanes and visiting Australia are two things I love doing and on my next holiday in Oz, hopefully in '07 that's what I want to do.
I understand that I need a security pass to use any airport with any public transport but as I am not living or working in Australia how am I suposed to get this done?
Also, do I need a picture licence?
I have a degree but cannot understand the "help" leaflets put out by CASA!
All I want to do is fly a C172 around a few strips and maybe a few regional airports, I've done it several times before.
Should I just go to South Africa or NZ?
Practical advice appreciated.
Regards,
C

You can apply for the ASIC card from overseas, there are people approved overseas to do the ID checks.

PM me, it's more complicated than it was, but by no means impossible!
