I am just wondering - with all of the ALAEA voting and stuff going on, which of the candidates cared about or had policies relating to Jetstar and GA engineers, or is the ALAEA only for Qantas engineers ?????

If the ALAEA had any foresight it would be looking after every part of it's rank and file - even those who don't work for Qantas (yes it's true there are LAME's who don't work for Qantas guys!!!), because its pretty obvious that with the limited membership available from LAME's as the species dies off there is clearly no financial future for the ALAEA without the support of Jetstar and GA engineers.

Interesting comment since pornstar ginger beers DON'T want the ALAEA to be involved in negotiation for your EBAs and such like or "Yes we would like you to negotiate on our behalf BUT only after we see what we can get !!!" :ugh:

And by the way when you negotiate your EBAs off the back of supposed ineffieciencies at Qantas Engineering Don't expect any sympathy from the membership as a whole

Lastly if you would bother to look carefully most candidates wrote about issues that effect the WHOLE membership ;)

Outsourcing, Lameless Tarmac and Job Security.:*

Danny,

decisions are made by those people who show up. Or, in this case, can be bothered to vote. Only a third of the ballots sent out for the recent ALAEA elections were returned. If the Jetstar and GA folks want a bigger say or input into the association then they'll need to: a) ensure they are members of the union and b) when election ballots appear in your mailbox, express your opinion on the ballot and send it in.

No point complaining that an organisation doesn't look after you if you aren't a member or you can't be bothered to vote come election time. I notice that nobody from GA or regional airlines even stood for the available councillor positions. You'll have to get your hands a little dirty if you want an input into how the union is run and ensure that your voice is heard at the federal executive.

Interesting times ahead perhaps with some new faces running the show in Bexley. I can only hope that the GA, Jetstar and regional airline guys step up, join up and take part in the goings on of the association, because standing on the sidelines complaining won't get them anywhere.

Let's hope that the unrepresented areas of our industry now come forward with representatives (if this is possible) to complete the equation of the new executive. I am confident that with or without elected reps that regionals and GA will be at the forefront of the Executives thoughts under the new guard.:ok:

Not just Qf:=

Danny Crane,

Interesting perspective Danny, you still have the opportunity to show your interest and depth of concern.

As has been stated in previous posts, disappointingly the GA and REGIONAL Councillor positions remain empty, as they did through the last term of the Executive. The GA position since Bob Bruty passed away a couple of years ago. The Virgin and REGIONAL QANTAS Councillor positions were also uncontested at this election and the last. Is there any interest out there for those areas? Will you fill one?:hmm:

Even so, their issues were represented but obviously without the insight of an industry participant that would have been preferred.

The association now has a fresh opportunity to unite, a new Executive, a new approach, please do more than sit back and criticise. These guys are motivated and interested in developing a strong organisation for all its members.:D

Jetstar has lead the race to the bottom, are they willing to now participate and stop the demise of safe aviation in Australia and ever reducing pay and conditions:yuk:

Not quite true THE MR FIXIT Iam a LAME at Jetstar and am a current financial member of the ALAEA.I personally requested the ALAEA presence at the EBA negotiations but they never represented me.That is one reason I voted for a new executive .Heres hoping that they will represent everyone (including myself)

Rudderless 1,interesting that you say the Virgin councillors position was uncontested. How many LAME's does Virgin employ?Last I heard all maintenance was out-sourced.Is this an indication of just how out of touch the ALAEA is with what their members do and indeed who they work for?:ugh: Cheers

Keep bashing that head 3030, if you had an active interest in the association, the Councillor position for "Virgin" (JETCARE,Virgin Tech) represents their MRO'S. Mike Watson has held and will continue to hold that position which represents people that work on VIRGIN AIRCRAFT.

Didn't realie I had to be so basic with those in the know. Any reason for being so teadiously specific?

What happened to the rotund man with the large tool belt? (and his mouth)? Rumour has it he resigned from our union because the democratic vote of the members was not what he wanted to hear! :D

What a suprise:hmm: This is normal behaviour for those that ignore the membership voice.... :=

Cheerio rotund one!

Apologies Stall missed your post

My understanding is this so far the impulse/jetstar LAMEs have negotiated at least four EBAs on their own :=

Yes I believe there have been at least three votes to involve the ALAEA but EVERYTIME the LAMEs there as a whole vote to negotiate on their own behalf EVERYTIME :ugh:

Sorry Stall sorry Danny but three strikes your out next batter up. :*

By the way Danny if it is really you Brave move
