Can anyone define the exact differences between what the CASA PIFR and CIR ratings may be used for?

Are there differences in the minimum aircraft requirements for PIFR versus CIR?

Can the PIFR be used for AWK non-charter operations?

Any advice appreciated.

Check out the following link....will explain all!

http://www.casa.gov.au/download/caaps/ops/5_13_1.pdf

Basically for private ops only, starts off as an IMC rating only (fly in cloud once at LSALT only) then can add extras to it, such as, climb in IMC and instrument approaches, etc.

For basic PIFR rating need 20 hours IF of which 10 must be dual....or something like that.

Good for corporate pilots flying private category only or thse CIR pilots who have had to let their CIR rating lapse.

Thanks Bellfest - point taken and the CAO's are dust free. However, sometimes it helps to get advice from those who may have also done the same research and had some insight to offer.
