Heard a very interesting rumour only this morning. Overheard a passing remark from someone on the tarmac that Whyalla Airlines will restart ops in the near future.
Good luck to them if they do but does anyone have any hard info?

I hope KB read the nastygram from CASA. There's more than a little bit of his philosophy in there:oh:

Very interesting.

But would passengers fly with them under that name I wonder?

Any ideas as to equipment being considered?
Wouldn't want to be anything but a turbine, and a big one if they are going to give the incumbents a run for their money.

And who would they be aligned to (if anybody) from a commercial perspective?

Wait with (un)bated breath methinks.

Wouldnt it be wiser to start up an Emu or Airlines of SA type operation again and compete against REX since QFLink is pulling out of PLC and KSC?

At least with these places you've only got REX to worry about, not O'Conners as well.

they would have to be based on rpt ops with turbines as AirS have got the charter and semi-rpt market pretty stitched up out of YPAD these days.

The B boys still fly around in a C210 every now and then.

Couldnt agree more Jarse!

If CASA let that crook have anything to do with it, then they are a complete failure as a regulator:yuk:

Chadzat,

the AirS relationship has always been very close, XMC and ION are KB / Des's Cabs / Whyalla Airlines aircraft. AirS first C404 TMU was registered to some Whyalla based company that also held the regos of some of the aircraft operated by Whyalla Airlines.

OMG, another evil thought, DU as CP:uhoh: :uhoh:

Contract Con, unfortunately the inquest and ATSB were distracted enough by engine failures to overlook the obvious question of why was an airfield (KDI) that the pilot was familar with, overflown following the first engine failue.
