There appears to be significant rumour around Gibraltar that talks are taking place between the "interested" parties of introducing new schedules from Gibraltar to UK destinations.

BM (Baby) and Easy Jet are two of the four companies understood to have been involved in discussions alhough allegedly Easy Jet have perhaps distanced themselves from showing any further interest.

Of particular interest is that a "new start up" for Gibraltar has been sited - using 2 wet leased 737's with direct flights to Stansted, Birmingham and Bristol.

Obviously discussions are in early stages, and will jo doubt be problematic involving Govt of Gib and the MoD who have been making it clear that the airfield cannot be subsidised anymore for civilian operations by the MoD budget and that landing fee charges must remain at new levels. Lets hope the Govt of the Gibraltar starts to realise the potential and thinks long and hard about the passenger tax it imposes and tries also the encourage any new start from the rock.

Id certainly like to see a route between Gibraltar and Bristol; I hope it goes ahead!

Will be interesting to see. The more people who use it, the lower the cost will be. It won't have helped that the MOD have just shaved an additional 150feet off either end of the runway for "precautionary measures". Can't remember the last time an airframe decided to take a dip in the ocean?

Maybe they are hoping to get 146 operators only to fly there. Pretty soon it will be the only thing that can get in without severe payload restrictions!!
