ALL instrument approaches to Samos are circling and come from the south towards the VOR and turn towards whichever runway. Decision altitude can be as high as 2100'. Airfield 20' AMSL.

R09 has the 'better' approach being away from the hills to the west but the go-round/take-off then becomes more challenging.

this gives you a pretty good idea of what pax seated on the right side of the aircraft would see on app to SMI.

Followed by a very late turn onto finals over the greenhouses. Turkish airspace is not far off the other end so its an early turn when departing too. One watched a german 757 have four goes, two from each end, before landing on his 5th when the afternoon meltemi winds picked up.

I followed a Novair 320 in there a while back onto 27 with a northerly and I'm pretty sure those guys were looking at setting a limit below that!
