This from their website announcing TG-CH.

Leave Tauranga at 7am and arrive in Christchurch at 8.40am. Return from Christchurch at 5.50pm and be home in time for tea with the family.

Our Jetstream 41 aircraft is the fastest turbo-prop aircraft in New Zealand! This combined with our new direct service means Tauranga finally has a true full day of business in Christchurch! Plus, our new service will get you from Tauranga to the South Island ski fields faster than you can say "Where's my boots?"

1.7 TG-CH aint too bad - though that is sched time. Heard that trip is actually 1.4! Air NZ were talking about the 1900 being a 1.9 sched, after trials a few years back.

So what is fastest prop in the 'airline' skies in NZ? :hmm:

Thought the CV580's were faster, 300-ish kts? Definitely isn't an F27......

No contest , the Cheyanne 4 based in the Hawkes Bay nowdays (ZK-RUR) is the fastest Turboprop in NZ. The J41 is the fastest turboprop used for sceduled flights , comfortabley outperforms the CV-580.:)

i guess as long as there is an J41 available to tg-ch, then it's fastest, but what's the long term chances of that happening? at least a beech would turn up.

Scrogee,

Not sure about the Piper but depending on the aircraft and the temp, weight etc the Sodastream can cruise quiet happily at 305 - 310kts TAS at 98% torque.

No, you were right the first time. The 1900 is the ugliest aircraft known to man... :D :D

The J41 will TAS at 310kts but..... only if it's very cold, empty and with BBQ power settings its more like 295kts

Think my money would be on the P3K or the Cheyane but in terms of airlines the new freighter convair 5800 will to the bussiness herd round the 350kt

Suposedly the fastest is the lA 9 Lavochkin

http://owen2.otago.ac.nz/owen/XuAir2004/LA9.html

372 Knots @ 17,000'

FG1D (The NZ Corsair) 369 Knots @ 20,000'

The Thunder Mustang Vmo 222 Knots Vne 437 Knots.

It all depends on how you hold your mouth (and who is telling the story), and of course none of them are Turbo props :)
