Evening chaps.

New PPL here, will be in Norway for two weeks in August, and I'd like to spend part of my time flying.

Could anyone point me to a facility either in or near Oslo or somewhere in Nordland (Harstad, Bodø) where I could receive a couple of hours of dual instruction to familiarise myself with the local aeronautical environment and then rent an aircraft to do some cross country hour building? Cheers.

P.S. Please note that I already have my PPL, I want the dual time because that's the sensible thing to do being low hour and in unfamiliar airspace.

Bodø Aero Club have aircraft you might get to rent, not sure about instruction.

If Troms is an option, at Bardufoss we have a Skyhawk that I belive outsiders have rented before, we have several instructors as well.

and..
Norwegian Aviation College have a 'large' Piper and Grob fleet, and naturally instructors. You can rent the aircraft.

M609, thanks for the info.

I fired off an e-mail to the NAC guys on Friday but no reply yet. You sure they rent? If so it'd be a good chance to have a look at their operation, as I'm going for an ATPL and I've decided it'd be nice to do part or all of it in Norway.

I will contact your club as well, btw. I misread your post first time as saying you did not have instructors :8

Once again, cheers for the info.

No FBO's in Norway, Flying clubs only. So you'd have to join and pay membership fees to the local and the national organizations.

And I suppose your ticket is not a norwegian one?

Good luck...

Hi tprop, thanks for your reply. I wasn't expecting that there would be any fixed base operators so having to pay club fees is not a concern.

Did not understand your question about a Norwegian ticket. I've got a JAR licence if that's what you mean.

As for Norwegian Aviation College, they either have plenty of business or they have missed the e-mail I sent them a week ago :*

LN-reg aircraft rental would require a Norwegian licence.

Written exams for a Norwegian licence are in Norwegian language. Is your Norwegian up to it?
