Anybody got any info on what is required to convert an Aus ATPL to a JAR ATPL. What credits might be avail and if part or all can be done in Aus. Also approx cost and timeframe.
Thanks all.

I looked this up the other day. From What I can Gather your ATPL credits (theory) mean nothing and don't convert. But if you hold an Aus ATPL with 3000+ hrs then you can convert the lic. in one go.
Otherwise you can sit all 14(?) of their exams. And there is only 1 school in Australia that does it (?) over in Perth.
From what I can see the JAR ATPL exams are just a combination of Aus CPL and ATPL. With 1 of the exams being 'VFR Radio'.
Good luck

RootCheck Rmcdonal is correct. If you Hold an ATPL with 3000 hours of which 1500 is PIC (Captain) time on aircraft above 30 000 kg apply to PLD of CAA for assesment as to what is required ( Usually Air Law and Human Performance Limitations exams and a Type rating check).

If you don't fit into that criteria then its all 14 ATPL exams, including both VFR communications and IFR communications. You may need to complete an approved Groundschool course to do this. Talk to the Head of Training they can assess what you have to do.

Flying wise it hours as required for your CPL (usually about 5 if your current) and a Minimum of 15 hours for your Instrument Rating. Up to 10 hours of the IR can be done on an FNPT2 approved simulator. That will give you a CPL/IR and ATPL Theory the so callled Frozen ATPL. If you have 1500 hours and 500 Multi pilot aeroplane cna replace the flying with a Type Rating test ( Just remember though thats the only aircraft you can legally fly).

WAAC at http://www.waaviationcollege.com.au/ should be able to help.
